Sacramento Takes 2-0 Series Lead, Puts Stephen Curry in Uncharted Territory
The Sacramento Kings defeated the Golden State Warriors 112-104 in Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals on Tuesday night, taking a 2-0 series lead and putting Stephen Curry in uncharted territory.
Curry, who has been the heart and soul of the Warriors for years, had a tough night. He scored just 18 points on 7-of-22 shooting, including 2-of-11 from beyond the arc. The Kings did an excellent job of doubling and even triple-teaming Curry to limit his effectiveness.
The Warriors started the game well, jumping out to a 28-20 lead after the first quarter. But the Kings stormed back in the second quarter, outscoring Golden State 37-22 to take a 57-50 lead into halftime. Sacramento never looked back, maintaining their lead throughout the second half to secure the victory.
De’Aaron Fox led the way for the Kings with 29 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists. Buddy Hield added 23 points and 6 rebounds, while Harrison Barnes chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Kings shot an impressive 52% from the field and outrebounded the Warriors 49-41.
The Warriors, on the other hand, struggled to find their rhythm offensively. Draymond Green had a solid game with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, but the rest of the team failed to step up. Klay Thompson, who had a rough shooting night in Game 1, struggled once again, scoring just 12 points on 5-of-16 shooting.
With the series shifting to Sacramento for Game 3, the pressure is on the Warriors to turn things around quickly. They will need Curry to find his form and his teammates to step up if they hope to avoid falling into a 3-0 hole. The Kings, on the other hand, will look to continue their dominant play and take a commanding lead in the series.
