For years, people have shaped their lives according to their standards of behavior, upbringing, and comfort. It took a considerable amount of fortitude and bravery for them to reach their endpoint, to build their lifestyles from scratch, to achieve the benchmark they’ve set for themselves, and to find enough courage to leave all those malpractices and negligence which were being pursued for years. Every human around us, although looks the same way we do, craves the same food, the quest for similar professions, but, what makes us poles apart from each other, is the stories that we carry with us, the grappling struggle we went through, the scars we carry on our backs, and the people we left behind, just to frame our lifestyles the way we desired to have. By taking a good look around us, we come to realize that everyone has a different way of living. We may find some of them to have their roots from a liberal background, some might be very conservative, and some might sound radicals. And hence there’s only one conclusion, everyone around us carries a differing ideology from us.
Our lifestyles comprise everything we do. It includes the first thing we do when we get up and what we do after that, how we greet and talk to people around us, how we portray our morals to those who are younger than us. Every infinitesimal thing of ours shows who we are and what we aim for in the life ahead of us. As Mae West puts it this way, “you live only once, but if you do it right, once is enough.†This one quotation says it all. It ascertains us to think deeply about what we want from our lives, what we want to live for, and how significant we want to make it. So that the next time we look back, there isn’t an ounce of regret in us. However, there are certain ways through which we can try to make our lives enthralling and distinct. Two of which are traveling and entertainment.
When it comes to traveling, one can go on and talk about it, be it the benefits and thrill it curtails or how dangerous it is to do it all alone. Traveling like few other things is one of the great ways to take our mind off of certain things, to take a break off our monotonous and tedious routines, and savor the moments without a deadline at our backs. Nothing can be more soothing than being in an open place with natural air surrounding us, birds chirping over us, people lost in their little worlds, at a place where nature can be cherished, and grateful to God for bestowing us with such great things in life. It allows us to meet people of all age groups, eat food from stalls instead of restaurants that scream affluence. To go hiking in the woods, or to be in a carnival with rides. Traveling gives us the breathing space amongst the circling thoughts of our distress and issues. It’s about viewing this world with a different insight, and it’s about being the way we want to be, like a cheerful and full-of-life person. It’s about making new friendships and feeling great affection for strangers who are humans, just like us.
On the other hand, entertainment can be fun too. However, it means different for different people. For kids, it just might be able to play outside with others or sitting in the midst of a room full of toys, or reading tons of fictional books. For teens, it can be partying around with their friends, competing over videogames, or just being on the school’s football team. It can be a meet and greet session over a cup of coffee or watching the news about politics and other boring stuff for adults. And for our grandparents, it can just be about seeing their children and family sitting all together with deep love and affection, talking about their teenage stories with the kids about how handful they were for their parents, and how the world has changed so drastically over the past decades. It can be everything for some and nothing for others.
Everyone has contrasting views on how they want to spend their lives; with each forthcoming day, they expect something different from others. Some might agree to their terms, and some might have contradicting views regarding it. But we all need to have patience and acceptance of how others perceive things that may not always be the same way we do. As far as our personal lives are concerned, some things can be done to give us contention by the end of the day. However, what we need to apprehend is that every day will be different from the previous one. It might be a lazy one or highly tiresome. It might feel prolific or can turn out unproductive. It is up to us how we view our life. Whether we choose to see the silver lining in every ball game or we choose to drown in the sadness of a debacle.
