A 15-year-old Black teenager was shot by a White homeowner in Rochester, New York, in a tragic case of mistaken identity. The homeowner reportedly believed the teen was an intruder after he rang the wrong doorbell in the neighborhood.
The incident occurred on the night of September 15th, 2022. The teenager, whose name has not been released, was visiting a friend’s house and accidentally rang the doorbell of the wrong home. According to reports, the homeowner, who has also not been identified, confronted the teenager and fired his weapon, striking him in the leg.
The teenager was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet. His injuries were initially described as serious, and it was unclear if he would fully recover.
However, in a miraculous turn of events, the teenager’s attorney announced that his client had made a remarkable recovery and was doing well. The attorney credited the recovery to the teenager’s strength and resilience, as well as the support of his family and the community.
The attorney also noted that the shooting was a tragic reminder of the ongoing issue of racial profiling and discrimination in America. “This young man was simply trying to visit a friend, and he was shot because he was Black,” the attorney said. “We cannot continue to allow these types of incidents to happen.”
The shooting is currently under investigation by local authorities, who have not yet announced whether any charges will be filed against the homeowner. The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for justice for the teenager and an end to racial profiling.
As for the teenager, his family and friends are grateful for his recovery and the outpouring of support they have received. “He’s a strong kid, and he’s going to get through this,” his mother said. “We just want justice for what happened to him, and for this to never happen to anyone else.”
